Bullying

Bullying has been around since the beginning of time, but this is nothing to shrug off.  With bullying being in the forefront of the news for the last few years, it's the perfect time to address this serious issue.  As we've learned from stories in the media, if we ignore bullying, it can lead to serious, if not fatal, results. Please take a look at these resources and think about how you can help to stop bullying.

Bully Prevention Resources - National Association of School Psychologists - Numerous articles written on bully prevention.  Makes great handouts as well. 

 

Kids Against Bullying - PACER - One of my all-time favorite sites for the elementary aged kids!  There is lots of good age-appropriate material, as well as games that teach tolerance and bullying prevention.

 

National Bullying Prevention Center - PACER - This site has excellent information, as well as tool kits that can help to promote bullying prevention.  There are digital petitions and ideas for students to take action. 

 

Prevention at School - Stop Bullying -  Bullying can threaten students’ physical and emotional safety at school and can negatively impact their ability to learn. The best way to address bullying is to stop it before it starts. There are a number of things school staff can do to make schools safer and prevent bullying.

 

Stop Bullying Now - stopbullying.gov - An excellent and comprehensive website, with information for parents, teachers, and kids.  

 

Why it's Hard to Monitor Bullying in the Schools - Washington Post - This newspaper article looks at a report that reviewed years of data on bullying in the schools.
